Scotty Cameron Detour Putter - The Best Of The Best?

by Stefan B Crall

The Scotty Cameron Detour putters were brought to the marketplace by Titleist for the start of the 2007 season and offer some new design elements and indicators that help create a putting path that can’t fail.

My initial opinion of the Detour is that is has a soft, solid feel to it that provides a silky and steady putting base.

The new Scotty Cameron Detour provides the correct putter path for you swing. The head cover is a bright orange affair with a Detour marking showing a putting arc.

The Scotty Cameron Detour Putter is an amazing piece of science, metallurgy and design and this putter line extends the Detour theory into conventional putter design by promoting the arc-shaped putting path.

The Detour 2 has a straight shaft whilst it’s sister has a single bend in the shaft. Both styles come with an oversize T bar putter head design that provides a high MOI. There are weights strategically placed in the head and toe on both models.

The arched body is milled from 6061 T6 aluminium and has milled body pockets to lighten the mid-section of the putter, the stainless steel back weight triangulates weight at the corners of the putter.

The putter has an mrp of around the $300 mark and comes in 3 standard sizes of 33, 34 and 35 inches.

I think that this putter feels great to the touch and has definately made me more consistent but when all said and done you have to try it out for yourself to see if it will suit you. Most golf pro shops around the country will allow you to demo the club if you ask.
